This practical, beginner-friendly course introduces the fundamentals of Rockwell
Automation Logix controllers using Studio 5000 Logix Designer. Participants will build,
test and troubleshoot real ladder logic through guided labs.
What You’ll Learn:
How PLCs scan and execute logic
Studio 5000 interface and project structure (Tasks, Programs, Routines)
Basic Ladder Logic: XIC, XIO, OTE, OTL/OTU, Seal-in circuits
Timers (TON) and Counters
Tag creation and data types
Connecting to controllers with FactoryTalk Linx
Downloading, going online, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting
Introduction to real-world I/O and simple HMI concepts
Navigate Studio 5000 and understand project structure
Build and troubleshoot basic ladder logic (start/stop circuits, seal-ins, timers)
Connect to controllers, go online, monitor, and force I/O safely
Create and manage tags correctly
HMI basics
By the end of the course, you will confidently create basic control logic, understand what your program is doing — and why.
