SMC is now offering an Air Leak Detection Audit service to ensure customers are maximizing air usage and saving BIG on energy costs. In a study performed by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) it's estimated that air compressors use as much as 10% of all electricity generated in the United States. Further, the DOE calculates that nearly 50% of this energy is wasted. Compressed air leaks account for 25%-30% of this waste. Due to the known energy loss crisis, SMC has committed to providing customers with this actionable service to help you save money and resources. 


A recent case study by: Chuck Peterson uncovered a plant in Kansas was losing significant dollars in energy loss and in compressors running over the course of the past three years. They were running as many as 4-500 CFM compressors at one time to keep up with the air demand. Without a consistent air leak detection program in place  the plant was required to replace five 500 cubic foot compressors which included a 4 day shutdown and approximately $225,000 in compressor fees.
