Before

In 1950 Everett Squires began Southern Materials Company (SMC), a small, private, family-owned and operated plumbing and electrical wholesaling business located in Springfield, Missouri. The company was committed to bringing the best products, operational excellence and support to meet the growing needs of businesses in the area. Everett quickly saw a much bigger need for industries all over Missouri, and in 1966, SMC became an official distributor of Allen Bradley products, and so began SMC's journey to support the growing commercial, utility and manufacturing industries across the region. By 1975, SMC would be representing and delivering a wide variety of ancillary products and services to meet the needs of Missouri's growing commercial, utility, governmental and industrial base.

SMC is still a private, family-owned and operated corporation headquartered in Springfield, Missouri distributing the industry's top products and services in Automation, Data Communications and Security, Electrical, Industrial and Safety, and Fluid Power. You can now find SMC in 13 locations across Missouri and Kansas providing local inventory, a fleet of vehicles to support product delivery and the most knowledgeable technical support personnel with years of industry experience. As the company has continued to grow, there remains the focus and dedication to offer the products, operational excellence and technical support to meet the continued growing needs of every business customer.
